Following a review of the coverage, scope and functions of the current six Industry Training Advisory Councils (ITACs) the Northern Territory Government has decided to support a single new independent association, the Industry Skills Advisory Council NT (ISAC NT).

The new independent association will have increased funding and resources providing ISAC NT with the capacity to focus on all industry sectors with an increased focus on regional and remote areas. It is envisaged the increased resources and funding will provide for continuity and consistency in functions whilst providing an increased capacity for research and forecasting of industry workforce needs and training requirements, and give the organisation the capacity to pre-empt mid to long-term training needs within the NT, including identifying future career pathways in emerging job roles. The Industry Skills Advisory Council NT will commence 1 July 2016.

PITAC will continue to operate in conjunction with ISAC NT and support primary industries in the NT in the role of a Sector Advisory Group, (SAG). The new association will allow for better representation across industry sectors and inform those outside of primary industries as to the priorities and concerns of the sector.
