The Supporting Landholder Capacity for Quality Agricultural Development Applications Across Northern Australia project was a three-year cross-jurisdictional initiative coordinated by NT Farmers Association with partners across the NT, QLD and WA. Funded by CRCNA and undertaken from 2021 – 2025. The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of landholders, service providers and industry bodies to prepare high-quality, low-risk agricultural development applications across northern Australia.
Northern Australia’s complex regulatory landscape – characterised by overlapping legislation, diverse land tenure types, limited data access, and fragmented support systems – creates significant barriers for proponents seeking to undertake agricultural development. This four-phase project sought to understand these challenges and co-design practical, scalable solutions. Below are resources that have been created in response to needs identified in a bid to support landholder capacity in continued developments in Northern Australia.
